Five minutes that belong to you.
Three small practices for the end of a hard day. You don't need to do all three. Pick the one that sounds good right now.
Belly breathing
Put one hand on your chest and the other on your belly. Breathe in slowly and feel your belly rise. Breathe out all the way and let it fall. Follow the circle for ten breaths.
A slow exhale tells your body it's safe to settle.
Squeeze and let go
Start with your feet. Tense them for a few seconds, then release. Move up to your legs, your stomach, your hands, your shoulders, and your face.
You're showing your body the difference between holding on and letting go. Most of us forget there is one.
The check-in
Take three deep breaths. Then ask yourself, gently: "How am I feeling right now?" Don't fix it. Just name it. Tired. Angry. Sad. Numb.
Naming it is the practice.
